Nokia Siemens Networks has unveiled a new technology that could allow consumers to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile broadband without disrupting their connection.
The Smart WLAN Connectivity Solution, which will be launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February, will let both users and operators switch to Wi-Fi hotspots from mobile broadband and back again with increased ease.
The tool will also let mobile operators manage the heavy flow of data traffic by switching certain customers to Wi-Fi hotspots from time to time.
The company said in a press release that the Smart WLAN Connectivity Solution will be made available to operators in the first half of 2011.
Thorsten Robrecht, head of network systems product management at Nokia Siemens Networks, said in a statement: “People can enjoy a superior and seamless service without the hassle of having to choose among different networks and technologies, resulting in higher customer satisfaction and loyalty.”
