References to gaming on Apple TV and a new controller have been discovered in a recent iOS 4.3 beta code.
According to Engadget, a tipster has discovered some unusual code in iOS 4.3 beta that indicates that Apple might soon bring Xbox Live-like online gaming to Apple TV.
Evidence also points to a controller that could be used to play and schedule games on Apple TV, which currently only allows users to stream online content to their televisions.
Apple's GameCentre platform allows iOS users compete with each other on casual games, as well as share their progress and results, and it's not impossible to imagine the company integrating the gaming platform with Apple TV.
But, despite initial sales success, Apple TV still has some way to go if the company plans to compete with the likes of Sony and Microsoft to become the focal point of the modern living room.
