Game publisher Activision is strongly rumoured to be planning on a move for rival Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of blockbuster titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Bioshock.
According to gaming mag MCV, rumors emanating from very senior members at the company suggest that they are strongly considering acquiring Take-Two.
Activision would only strengthen its existing games portfolio which includes games like the Call of Duty.
The company recently made it clear that it has little patience for under-performing titles. Activision announced that it had axed the once popular Guitar Hero and DJ Hero franchises along with True Crime: Hong Kong.
A senior executive told MCV “There're not much more than that at the moment – they are just rumours. And, of course, given Activision's news this week, everyone is now looking to see what their next move is. But you can definitely put two and two together and make four-ish.”
If the deal does go ahead Activision will become a considerable force in the video games sector.
