ZTE has revealed this morning that its V9 tablet was the third best selling tablet globally behind the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad tablet.
The device, which has only been launched back in October 2010, is a 7-inch model with a resistive WVGA touchscreen, Android 2.1, integrated Wi-Fi and 3G.
There is also a 3-megapixel camera at the back and another one for video calls. How exactly they managed to sell truckloads of V9 we don't know.
However, bearing in mind that it has been released in Australia, Russia, India and China, costs less than £200, can do voice and offers Bluetooth, GPS, a SD card slot, that sounds like a great bargain.
At the conference, the executive vice president of the Chinese-based technology company, He Shiyou, presented the new slogan of the company, "Light Your Life" which ZTE says will prepare for the company's launch of several non-mobile products and services.
As far as emulating HTC by going direct, ZTE sys that they will strengthen their brand awareness in Europe and the US but will remain faithful to their traditional ODMs and carriers.
The company has shipped more than 90 million devices globally, a 51 per cent increase year on year with handsets representing 63 millions of them and placing them at number five in the global mobile ranking according to IDC.
