BlackBerry maker Research in Motion has announced its plans to launch two additional PlayBook 4G tablets during the second half of 2011.
In a press release coinciding with the MWC in Barcelona, the company said that the tablet devices will support LTE and HSPA+ high speed wide area wireless networks.
Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion, said in a statement “We are now building on the BlackBerry PlayBook’s many advantages with support for additional 4G networks that will allow enhanced business opportunities for carriers and developers and unparalleled mobile experiences for users.”
The company will now offer four versions of the upcoming tablet device, one with support only for Wi-Fi, one with both Wi-Fi and Wi-Max support, another one with Wi-Fi and LTE support and the fourth one with Wi-Fi and HSPA support.
The upcoming PlayBook tablets will come with Adobe Flash support and high-definition multimedia capabilities as well as enterprise standard security and functionality.
