Sony competition lets Experia Play price slip

Sony has apparently let slip the price for its much anticipated 'PlayStation Phone', the Experia Play.

The device, which is fundamentally a cross between a touchscreen smartphone and a PSP, was officially launched at this year's Mobile World Congress but Sony remained tight-lipped about the gadget's price.

That was until the folks at the Gamer Buzz unearthed what Geeky Gadgets is suggesting is an official Sony Ericsson competition on Facebook to win 10 of the Android-powered devices.

Competition rules state that pizes must be given an 'average price' and, in this case, that price has been pegged at $400.

We have to admit to being somewhat surprised at that price tag, given the off-contract cost of your average proddable smartphone, but if the story turns out to have any credence we reckon Sony Ericsson could have a winner on its hands.

The Experia Play features a four-inch multi-touch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and an Adreno GPU. It will be officially launched and priced in March 2011.
