On-line retailer Play.com has listed the recently announced Sony Ericsson 'PlayStation' Xperia Play, with a confirmed price attached SIM free and unlocked along with an actual arrival date.
The Xperia ‘PSP’ Play is available to pre-order with Play.com for £519.99, along with a shipping date of March 28th – where both of those details weren’t public, until now.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play is the world’s first PlayStation certified smartphone, with a fast processor and dedicated slide-out games controls whilst being backed by leading game publishers with a number of top titles being available at launch.
The mobile phone arrives with a 4-inch 480x853 FWVGA capacitive touch screen, which is powered by a 1Ghz CPU with an embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor that’s capable of 60 frames per second. The mobile also has a 5.1 megapixel camera with flash, whilst running from Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 with just over five and a half hours of game play.
SE’s Xperia Play unique gaming ability comes from the gaming controls, which slides-out vertically from the phone and in much the same way as many handsets have their Qwerty keyboard's slide out; such as the Xperia X10 Mini Pro. These controls are a digital D pad, with two analogue touch pads, two shoulder buttons and the four familiar PlayStation icons which all provide the gaming functionality.
