T-Mobile is cementing its position as the most aggressive player at the low-end of the market by offering the newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for as little as £557.55, a price that includes the phone, cross network minutes, texts and data on an 18-months contract.
Available on preorder via Buymobilephones.net are five deals with prices ranging from £20.42 to £40.85 with the cost of the phone ranging from free to £189.99; the lowest total cost of ownership (£557.55) offers 100 minutes and 100 texts.
For £12 extra, you can triple the amount of minutes and texts while an additional £34 brings the allowance to 600 minutes and 500 texts. Not bad given that the SIM free version of the phone will retail for around £520. Going through a monthly contract means that you will not need to initially fork out the whole cost of the phone.
The phone, formerly known as the Playstation Phone, comes with a Qualcomm SoC clocked at 1GHz, is powered by the Adreno 205 GPU, has 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard, a five megapixel camera with AF and flash, HD video recording, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a 1500mAh battery and is the first handset to come with the Playstation Suite.
All the major networks in the UK have already announced that they will be selling the phone but T-Mobile does have the upper hand by taking preorders for the Xperia Play for such a low price.
