Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has announced that the company will be rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for its HTC Desire range in the 2nd quarter of 2011.
Speaking to Slashgear, a spokeperson for the company stated that along with the original HTC Desire, the other Android devices including the Desire HD, Desire Z and Incredible S will all be getting the update.
“We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2,” a HTC spokesperson told Slashgear.
The company was expected to leave behind the first HTC Desire handset while updating its newer, more advanced replacements like the Desire HD, Desire Z and Desire S, which was just announced at the Mobile World Congress.
HTC is also expected to produce a new replacement for the Desire HD with a dual core offering called the HTC Pyramid. The device is expected to be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8260 processor and Retina Display.
