Apple offers full refund for recent iPad punters

If you were one of the 12 people on the planet who hadn't realised Apple was introducing a new iPad, and have stumped up full price for one in the last 14 days, Apple has decided you deserve a bit of sympathy.

The Mac maker will will refund the £100 difference between the price before the announcement yesterday and today's new bargain basement inventory-clearing price.

More surprisingly, an Apple employee at our local Store has told us that anyone who has recently bought an iPad and has their heart set on a swanky new iPad 2 to can return any gadgets purchased in the last two weeks for a full refund, used or abused as they may be.

The iPad 2 will be available in the USA on March 11th and two weeks later in the UK - on March 25th - and potential customers can hit the notify button on this page and enter an email address if they want to know how to get their hands on one.

The Apple employee we spoke to said that staff had not been notified of how many units each store would be getting, or if there would be a pre-order sytem in place, but Apple is notorious for pushing back European release dates to allow the USA to have its fill of the goodies before letting the rest of the planet get a look-in.
