iPad 2 Launch Prompts Apple To Sell iPad 1 For £289

Apple has not only cut the cost of the iPad version on its official website but has also done the same for some of its refurbished models with the cheapest version costing a mere £289, a £150 discount off the price of the new model from just a week ago.

Stocks (opens in new tab) are limited as one may expect and Apple says that they have tested and certified all Apple refurbished products.

They have also thrown in a one-year warranty and although you can buy the AppleCare protection plan, you won't be able to engrave or gift wrap the device.

All refurbished iPad models will also come with a new battery and outer shell, all manuals and accessories as well as a new white box.

All Apple iPad models, except for the 64GB 3G models, are available although not all have had their prices cut. The 32GB iPad still costs £439 and the 16GB 3GB version, an expensive £499.

However both the 64GB non 3G and the 32GB 3G version have had their prices cut by 12 per cent, to £419 and £439 respectively, cheaper than their smaller capacity versions.

At under £300, the iPad version 1 is a cracking deal, especially as it comes with a full Apple warranty and will be supported by iOS 4.3.

For iPhone 4 users, getting one is a no brainer as it is unlikely that they will need the front and rear cameras.
