Sony has confirmed that the popular Playstation Network has gone offline for a whopping 11 hours window as it undergoes routine maintenance.
Such a move will affect players globally from March 9, 1600 UK time until 0300 on March 10. Those trying to log in the Playstation Network will be greeted with a message saying that "the PlayStation Network has been suspended". This doesn't mean your account has been suspended; it means the PlayStation Network has been taken offline."
We're not sure at this stage what changes Sony will perform during the maintenance. With the launch of the Sony Next Generation Gaming platform as well as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and the accompanying Android-based gaming suite, the gaming giant will probably need to add a number of new features to enhance compatibility and squash any bugs.
Gamers have been advised that this doesn't mean that their account has been suspended; some players are also expecting Sony to release yet another firmware update concurrently and criticised the fact that the company did not give warnings early enough to its customers.
