Samsung has all but confirmed that it is about to release an 'in-betweener' nine-inch tablet to sit between its seven and ten-inch offerings.
The image below shows a heavily cropped portion of what most are supposing is the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab, with the legend 'What's your Tab life?' followed by the numbers 78910.
It's not too much of a stretch to add a couple of spaces and a decimal point, to come up with the sizes of the full Galaxy Tab line-up - 7 8.9 10 - adding some inside information to the myriad rumours about Samsung following the middle path.
The glossy shot shows what appears to be the device's 2.5mm headphone socket - and if that's the case, then the 8.9-inch device is so slim that Samsung had to add a slight bulge to the back of the case just to get the port in, suggesting the main chassis could be as little as 8mm thick for the most part. The recently-released iPad 2 is 8.8mm at its fattest point and doesn't have any unsightly bulges.
The smart money is on a dual ARM-designed processor running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, but we'll probably have to wait until March 22nd for the full skinny.
