Nintendo has announced that HMV will be its official retail partner for its upcoming 3DS hand-held gaming device when it launches in the UK on March 25th.
The retail giant will be hosting a massive midnight launch in its flagship Oxford Street store. The highly awaited console will go on sale at one minute past midnight on March 25th. HMV said that the console will also see a midnight launch at other branches across the UK.
The Nintendo 3DS will allow users to play 3D games without the need to wear special glasses. The device will come with a web browser and a dedicated online store for purchasing games and other media content.
The Japanese gaming giant is also hosting a 'VIP launch event' at London's Old Billingsgate to which 2,000 UK Club Nintendo members will be invited. The invites will be sent via email to select members.
Nintendo said that the first 500 gamers who purchase the 3DS will be allowed to chose one Nintendo 3DS game to take home for free. The company expects the midnight launch to draw huge crowds.
“Fans attending the official launch will receive a special commemorative launch-night pack containing numerous Nintendo rewards, including a space blanket to keep them warm whilst queuing, a limited edition launch t-shirt and an exclusive Nintendo 3DS launch edition of Official Nintendo Magazine (whilst stocks last),” the company said in a statement.
