The smallest national mobile phone operator, 3 UK, has announced today that it will be offering the 3G version of the iPad 2 as well as dedicated data plans for the tablet in the coming weeks.
All mobile phone carriers, with the notable exception of O2, have now confirmed that they will be shipping the iPad 2. We've asked Virgin Mobile if they plan to do it but have yet to receive an answer.
The new iPad 2 has some notable improvements compared to the previous iPad; a faster processor, better graphics, a much thinner form factor, lighter overall, twice the memory, two cameras and a gyroscope.
Most importantly though, Apple has not changed the price of the iPad 2. Three UK however is selling the older version of the Apple iPad for as little as £20 per month on a two year contract with a £99 upfront cost.
You get 15GB monthly data allowance and a total cost of ownership of £579 only, which is only £150 more than the price of the 16GB 3G version of the tablet on its own.
This means that the pay monthly price for the 15GB package is a mere £6.25; this compared very well with the monthly £16 that 3 UK will charge for the plan by its own.
