Sony Ericsson has announced that the highly awaited Xperia Play will be launched in the UK on March 31st, along with six pre-installed games including FIFA 10 and Crash Bandicoot.
According to the company, the device's launch will be the biggest ever marketing campaign undertaken by the company in the UK. Sony Ericsson's PlayStation Phone will be offered by all retailers and mobile phone service providers in the UK, the company said.
Sony Ericsson might also partner with video game retailers to offer the device owing to the mobile gaming capabilities of the device, which runs on Android 2.3 and has a processing power of 60 frames per second.
Sony Ericsson marketing director for the UK and Ireland David Hilton told MCV, “We are currently still in commercial conversation, but I’d be surprised if we didn’t see Xperia Play appear in other channels. All the mobile operators and retailers are selling it. It is rare these days to get a product that is sold everywhere, but this is one of those.”
The company plans to release the device with several pre-loaded games like Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors, Tetris, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, FIFA 10 and The Sims 3. Another 50 games will be available for download via PlayStation Suite.
