Amazon owned DVD rental and movie streaming service LoveFilm has partnered with Oregan Networks to enhance its movie streaming capabilities and improve customer access.
LoveFilm, which is Europe's largest DVD rental service, said that it plans to use Oregan's Onyx Media Browser to deliver high quality content to its 1.6 million users across the UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
The Onyx Media Browser can be found on internet connected televisions and set-top-boxes and is available as an app or an upgrade, LoveFilm said.
According to the company, the media browser will offer a higher quality user experience, interactivity and personalisation of movie streaming services offered by LoveFilm, via mobile devices, connected TVs and Sony's PlayStation 3 gaming console.
Simon Calver, the CEO of the London based company said in a statement, “This agreement is another significant step forward in our strategy to offer the LoveFilm service through as many Internet-connected devices as possible, enabling us to deliver thousands of films and TV shows to our members”.
“Oregan and LoveFilm have combined their leading technologies and content to create an application for an open platform, meaning that we now have the ability to easily and quickly offer the LoveFilm service through even more Internet-connected devices in the future,” he added.
