Apple iPad 2 UK Launch Update : Restricted Allocation In London

We've made a few calls to some DSGi stores across London regarding the availability of the iPad 2 on Friday and we've been told that stock is very limited and PC World, rather than Currys or Dixons, will have the priority over iPad 2 stocks.

A DSGi employee also confirmed that some stores haven't yet received their iPad 2 allocation and hinted at some stock issues in the capital which may or may not be related to an issue on Apple's side.

He also added that the group will be issuing a statement to the press on Thursday afternoon about the iPad 2 but declined to say whether it would provide with more details about stock allocation.

Which is a bit surprising given that there will Currys is the only one to have a proper iPad 2 preregistration page. Searching for the Apple tablet on PCWorld's website currently yield a "Sorry, we found no results for your search" page.

On a side note, one of our readers reported that Amazon has removed all references to the iPad 2 from its UK website which is puzzling to say the least. (ed : Apple just issued a press release confirming delivery date of iPad 2 from 5PM local time).
