Mobile phone operator Vodafone is already taking pre-orders for the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc with a delivery date scheduled for the 5th of April and pay monthly plans starting from £30.
The phone was announced at Mobile World Congress last month and is Sony Ericsson's replacement for the Xperia X10. Vodafone's best package comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB mobile internet data allowance on a two year contract.
Add £5 extra and you get 50 per cent more minutes and data allowance as well as up to 25MB a day of data in selected European countries. The mobile operator is also giving out unlimited UK calls to Vodafone mobiles on any pay monthly Android phone for purchases before the end of March.
The Arc has a 4.2-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, a 8.1 megapixel camera wit flash, Sony's mobile BRAVIA engine, the Reality Display technology, 512MB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon system on chip clocked at 1GHz, HD video recording capabilities, HDMI and Gingerbread plus Wi-Fi.
All in a stunningly skinny 8.7mm thick chassis that weighs only 117g and boosts a talk time of nearly seven hours. All the major mobile phone operators have confirmed that they will be shipping the handset by April and the least we can say is that we are quite surprised by how cheap it is.
