Intel owned McAfee has announced the acquisition of database security and compliance products provider Sentrigo.
McAfee said that the acquisition will allow it to expand its security offerings in the database security domain by offering vulnerability management, protection and activity monitoring of databases.
Sentrigo offers security solutions for databases that allow companies to prevent malicious attacks on databases. Its products help in intrusion prevention, detecting vulnerabilities and protect systems that remain unpatched.
McAfee, which had previously partnered with Sentrigo in the Security Innovation Alliance (SIA) program, said that Sentrigo's technology will allow it to offer products that stop database attacks, including SQL injection, diagnose and assess the database environment and expand the McAfee Risk and Compliance solutions line.
Dave DeWalt, president of McAfee, said in a statement, “McAfee is continuing to broaden its security portfolio to now-secure databases, as well as endpoints, networks, email and web. In addition to the acquisition announcement, McAfee is also announcing a complete database security platform which includes products across the McAfee portfolio.”
The acquisition comes less than a month after Intel acquired McAfee for $7.6 billion, in order to enhance its software and security-on-chip solutions.
