The Windows Phone 7 NoDo update is expected to be rolled out to customers in UK over the next two weeks.
O2 has confirmed that it will release the update in the first week of April while Orange and T-Mobile will be releasing it next week.
The update, which has already been released in the US, will bring critical enhancements to Microsoft's platform, including the copy and paste function and better gaming and app performance.
The NoDo update is the first major software release for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform. Microsoft had earlier released a minor update to fix issues with the platform's software update feature.
According to The Guardian, UK network operators will release the updates at different times.
Mobile phone operators are first testing whether the update works properly with Windows Phone 7 handsets on their networks, after the last Windows Phone update from Microsoft had caused several Samsung handsets to brick.
A Vodafone spokesperson told The Guardian “The updates for the HTC 7 Trophy and LG Optimus 7 [the WP7 devices that Vodafone offers] have been approved by Vodafone and will be distributed in due course – MS have begun to gradually roll out the update, starting small with customers with open market phones this week. Update will be via PC suite.”
