You can now purchase the HTC Desire HD, arguably second best value smartphone from the Taiwanese handset manufacturer after the HTC Desire from as little as £367.
The trick (and there's always one) is to buy the handset from Dialaphone on an 18 months contract which gets you the phone for free with 100 minutes per month, unlimited texts per month but no data allowance.
The upside is that the smartphone comes unlocked but is branded and allows you to spread the cost of the price of the smartphone on 18 months without interest rather than having to pay for it in one go.
The HTC Desire HD comes with a huge 4.3-inch screen, the same size as the HTC EVO 3D handset that has just been launched. With a WVGA screen resolution, it matches all the latest models except the one that has just been announced at CTIA.
The rest of the configuration is still a match for most mainstream handsets; there's a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon system on chip clocked at 1GHz, 768MB RAM, 1.1GB onboard storage, Wi-Fi, a microSD card reader, an 8-megapixel camera (but no front facing one), HTC sense UI and Android OS 2.2.
We believe that the HTC Desire HD represents much better value than the newly announced HTC Desire S or Incredible S simply because of the value for money.
