Hasbro has announced MY3D, an accessory for the iPhone and iPod Touch that will turn it into a handheld 3D viewer with 360-degree content.
The device allows users to clip their iPhone or iPod Touch into it, download one of the MY3D apps and then watch supposedly “jaw-dropping” 3D content.
Initially there will be several apps available, including MY3D 360-degrees Sharks, Sector 17, Teleport L.A., Bubble Bolt, Tunnel Pilot and Shatterstorm. Normal content obviously won't display as 3D, but it's likely that more 3D apps will be added in the future.
Hasbro suggested that it might also ink a deal with some of the major film studios, including DreamWorks, Sony, Twentieth Century Fox and Warners Bros., to develop additional content and 3D movie trailers that can also be viewed on the device.
MY3D is compatible with the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and second to fourth generations of the iPod Touch.
The accessory will go on sale at Target from April 3 and in other shop around the US in June, with a price tag of $34.99.
By the time it reaches the UK the iPhone 3D will probably be out.
