T-Mobile may be listing the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as being available from April 2011 but there's at least one online retailer that is selling the handset formerly known as PSP phone and has confirmed that it has shipped more than 200 such Xperia Play handsets since yesterday.
Speaking exclusively to ITProPortal.com, a spokesperson for Buymobilephone confirmed that they had stock of the Xperia Play on T-Mobile (which has yet to announce the handset launch) from as little as £25.54 per month (opens in new tab), which makes it the cheapest deal on the market by far, even if it is on a two year contract.
It does come with 600 minutes, 500 texts and 1GB data you can grab the same package on an 18-month contract (with a £20 cashback) from £30.64 which amounts to a total cost of ownership of £531.52; that compares very well to the £470 that the phone costs on SIM Free.
Buymobilephones doesn't currently carry the handset on 3 UK but, surprise, surprise, it is available on O2 even if the mobile phone operator already confirmed that it will not be shipping the Xperia Play until software-related issues are solved.
Both Vodafone and 3 UK have also announced yesterday that there would be a slight delay in the delivery of the Xperia Play because of shipping issues.
