Acer’s Honeycomb tablet hits Amazon

On-line goods reseller Amazon has listed Acer’s latest ICONIA TAB A100, which was recently announced at Mobile World Conges in Barcelona.

The Acer Iconia tab a100 is a 7-inch 1024x600 16:9 touch screen tablet and is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core chipset, whilst running from the latest Android ‘Honeycomb’ 3.0 OS – which will also be appearing on the Motorola Xoom and Asus Eee Pad Transformer this month.

There is a 5megapixal camera on-board and a 2MP front-facing camera. The screen is capable of showing 1080p HD video thanks to the Nvidia GeForce GPU, whilst also supporting Adobe Flash 10.1 and Dolby Mobile for a better sound quality.

Acer’s a100 home screen has the tablets resources divided into four main sections, a games zone, eReading, multimedia and SNS. The games zone has a range of preloaded games, with access to on-line 3D games, whilst eReading provides downloadable books and magazines from Zino, Nook and LumiRead variants. Multimedia gathers all the applications for music, video and photos in one place, where the SNS in the social networking category and has access to Facebook, Twitter and also Acer’s own SocialJogger app that links them all together.

Amazon has the Iconia tab a100 listed for £299 for the WIFI only version, where the a101 3G+WIFI model has been priced at £399 – both with a delivery date after April 20th.
