Apple’s much awaited White iPhone, scheduled for release in June, has inexplicably disappeared from its website and online stores, preparing its fans for the worst.
Though Apple has not made any official comment regarding this development, the rumours are that the much anticipated project could die a premature death.
A report on the Italian website AppleRumours.it suggested that the project has been officially called off due to some internal, production- related issue.
Earlier yesterday, Apple’s website and the online stores suddenly went offline, and when they were finally back, several references and pictures of the white edition went missing from its site. The buying option for the product in the online store galleries also vanished, causing panic among those longing after the exclusive item.
The white iPhone was scheduled for release with the black model last year. While the black iPhone was successfully launched on time, some unknown issue held back the release of the white version.
Much to the delight of fans, it appeared again on the online Apple store only to dash their hopes once again with its vanishing act.
Phil Schiller, the vice president of Apple’s marketing department had tweeted last month: "The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!),"
