Consumer electronics giant Samsung has unveiled the shipping date of the Galaxy S II mobile phone, as May 1st with an update to the handset’s processor – which now boasts a dual-core 1.2Ghz CPU.
Samsung’s GT-I9100 Galaxy S II phone is set to arrive at the start of next month, as one of the slimmest and lightest handsets around and the first mobile to contain the new AMOLED screen technology.
The Galaxy S II 4.27-inch WVGA 480x800 comes with the Super AMOLED Plus screen technology, which is the largest, brightest and most colourful screen available in the Samsung arsenal.
Samsung’s sequel to the Galaxy S tips up in an 8.9mm thin chassis, whilst weighing in at 116grams, with an 8MP camera and an updated 1.2Ghz dual-core processor – from the 1Ghz variant, announced at Mobile World Congress.
Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 is the OS behind the device where it's the second time it's has appeared on a Samsung handset, where the Google made Nexus S was the world’s very first mobile with the untainted platform.
Mobile phone networks Vodafone and Three have only released their intentions to carry the Samsung squeal handset, although no tariff prices have been made public as yet.
