White LG Optimus 3D Goes On Sale At Phones4U

The LG Optimus 3D, which was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February, will be available in white exclusively from Phones4U, the retailer has announced. The handset can be preordered here (opens in new tab).

Initially, the black version of the handset will go on sale online and in Phones4U stores shortly after its UK launch - which has yet to be announced - with the white model following within weeks.

The phone has a special glasses-free 4.3-inch WVGA 3D display that uses the same technology as the Nintendo 3DS, and currently runs on Google Android Froyo with a Gingerbread update to be released later this year.

Unlike the Optimus 2X, the 3D uses a TI OMAP4 system on chip clocked at 1GHz and it also comes with two five-megapixel cameras that allow you to take 3D photos and record video content in 3D as well. These can be viewed on a compatible 3D TV via the built-in HDMI ports.

Phones 4U Marketing Director Russell Braterman said in a press statement, “We’re delighted to announce that we’ll soon be offering our customers the world’s first ever 3D mobile phone in white,” adding, "Our customers are content creators and sharers, and the LG Optimus 3D will for the first time allow them to do what they enjoy most, but in 3D."
