Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Now Available From Three

Three Mobile has put the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on sale for as little as £35 per month on a two year contract, with a £99 upfront cost - which is more than we had previously expected.

The smartphone (opens in new tab) is available under the Text 500 package and comes with 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB of internet access. Alternatively, you can get it under the One Plan package which includes four times the number of minutes, the same amount of texts, 5000 3-to-3 minutes and as much data as you can possibly consume (ed : plus the added advantage of no-limit tethering).

The Xperia Play was launched back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and is the first Playstation certified smartphone on the market.

It comes with six free games preloaded, a proper slide-out game pad with the usual control buttons, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, full access to the Android market, stereo speakers and a five megapixel camera with flash.

The rest of the configuration is pretty standard; a 4-inch WVGA screen, 512MB RAM, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon system on chip with an Adreno 205 GPU, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and support for up to 32GB microSD card.

All the main mobile phone operators including Virgin Media have confirmed that that they will be offering the phone.
