Hitachi Launches Touro External Hard Drives With Free Cloud Storage

Hitachi, a global leader in innovating tech products has introduced four new models of external drives to its popular Touro family product lines. The new all-in-one USB 3.0 external hard drives are named by the company as Touro Mobile Pro Portable drive (2.5 inch) and Touro Desk Pro External drive (3.5 inch).

The new products include a host of improvements over their predecessors and quite unlike any other external drive allow both local backup and cloud backup service options. This enables the user to access files on multiple devices like PCs, tablets or a Smartphone. Moreover, both these devices are bundled with 3GB free cloud space which can be upgraded to 250GB for just $49 per year. Paid customer of cloud storage will also get iPhone and iPad applications for free for viewing their stored files (opens in new tab).

Both the products features state of the art 7200 rpm drives. The Turbo Mobile Pro is priced at $110 for 500GB and $130 for 750GB while the Turbo Desk Pro is priced at $130 for 1TB, $180 for 2TB and $230 for 3TB. Apart from these Hitachi is also planning to launch two more products to its kitty, Turbo Mobile Drive and Turbo Desk Drive which will support USB 2.0 instead of 3.0 and will not include any cloud backup service.
