The official upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the T-Mobile G2X is currently being tested and will hit the market soon, T-Mobile announced.
T-Mobile USA confirmed the news on its official Twitter account yesterday. The company had promised its customers that they would switch to Gingerbread right after its release, and it seems that they will be able to make good on their promise.
The Twitter post by the company read: "Gingerbread is coming to the G2X soon. You won't have to wait long."
There have been a few technical glitches in the T-Mobile G2X reported in recent few days; screen bleeding and random reboots in particular have been annoying users. Though some users think the introduction of the Gingerbread update is unlikely to answer all of these issues, sources claim that T-Mobile is quite optimistic that the next Android 2.3 update will resolve most of them.
T-Mobile also revealed that the tests on the Gingerbread update had begun before the G2X was launched. This is probably why T-Mobile is able to release the highly anticipated update before it was expected.
Although the update is now expected to be released soon, T-Mobile did not mention any official date in its Twitter post.
