OneStopPhoneShop, a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, is selling the Samsung Galaxy S2 with 200 minutes, 1000 texts and unlimited access for as little as £20 per month on a one year contract with an upfront cost of £309.99.
The total cost of ownership (opens in new tab) over the 12 month period is £549.99, which is roughly what you would pay for the SIM free version of the handset.
This means that it is financially more advantageous to buy the phone on this contract (and it is likely to be unlocked) and get the line rental, essentially for free, rather than paying it outright.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 will be launched within the next week (OSPS says 28th of April), which means that all purchases are essentially preorders set to be delivered within days.
The successor to the Galaxy S comes with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus WVGA screen (we're slightly disappointed there), a dual core Cortex-A9 system on chip called the Exynos 4210, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Near Field Communication technology plus a 2-megapixel front facing camera and an eight-megapixel rear one.
The handset was only launched 10 weeks ago at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which means that it has reached mainstream prices faster than many of its competitors, as you can get it for less than £25 on some contracts.
