Apple's legendary white elephant, the white iPhone 4, actually exists and goes on sale tomorrow.
Quite frankly, we were so sick of trolling out the same old tired rumours about Apple's smartphone for girls that we'd stopped paying attention a month or so ago, but this one actually comes from honest-to-goodness Apple.
“The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s main man of marketing. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”
We won't bother to bore you with the technical specs as it's basically a bog-standard iPhone 4 but with a spiffy white paint job. Apple hasn't revealed why it has taken nigh on a year to get it out but the best explanation we've heard is that Apple's Chinese manufacturing partners couldn't get paint that was opaque enough to stop light leaking from the flash into the camera lens, yet was thin enough to fit into the iPhone 4's battery-crammed case with all of the other internal gubbins.
Chances are, Apple will never reveal exactly what the beef was with the white livery, but if you live in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK or the US - you'll be able to buy one online through your local Apple web site, at your local Apple store, or selected Apple resellers tomorrow, April 28th.
