Online music video streaming service Vevo, started by Universal and Sony, has launched in the UK, it has been announced.
Vevo, which was founded by two of the biggest music labels in the world, allows users to search and stream music videos, original series, live events, artist interviews and sometimes features video competition.
Before this, UK users used to access the platform on Google’s YouTube video sharing and streaming platform. But now, Vevo has got its own website in the UK, offering instant access to the latest in music videos.
The platform is also available as an app for Android devices, iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad, Vevo said in a blog post (opens in new tab).
“Even though we are still in the test phase of our U.K. launch, we couldn’t wait any longer to offer fans a sneak peek of what VEVO is all about” Vevo’s CEO Rio Caraeff, said in a statement.
“The site will continue to evolve and improve in the months to come; getting better and more localized thanks to our growing London based staff” he added.
For starters, the company said that this week, the platform will feature music video premiers from Tinchy Strider, Tom Vek, Chapel Club and The Pierces, along with interviews from James Blake, Adele and Jessie J.
