TweetDeck 2.0 for iPhone, which is now available in the App Store, is not just an update but a complete re-imagining of the app, the company claims.
A post in the official TweetDeck blog read: “In Hollywood they would call it a "re-imagining" - keep the essence of the original, but bring it bang up to date with a new team, top-class effects and plenty of scope for sequels.”
The post compares the update from TweetDeck to TweetDeck2 to the reboot from Batman & Robin to Batman Begins, though one would hope the developers don't hold their original product in such low regard.
It also called the new TweetDeck v2.0 “a brand new app from scratch, making use of all the latest technologies and design approaches, but all the while with an eye on those fundamental principles from the original.
This announcement comes at the same time as reports about the possible acquisition of TweetDeck-UberMedia by Twitter. The Wall Street Journal reports that talks between the companies, which could result in a $50 million purchase, are at an advanced stage.
TweetDeck is a free, cross-platform application that allows users to organise all of their social media interactions through a single interface. TweetDeck is one of the most popular third-party apps used to interface with Twitter.
