AMNews: PayPal Acquires Fig Leaf, White iPhone 4 Thicker, iPad 2 Shortage, Sony Apologises Over PSN Outage

Online payments giant PayPal has moved to acquire a Boston based start-up that allows merchants to accept mobile payments via Smartphones. In a blog post, PayPal said that it had acquired mobile payments start-up Fig Card to boost its mobile portfolio to accommodate the changing retail landscape.

The white version of the iPhone 4 happens to be 200 microns thicker than the black version of the device and it looks as if the difference is entirely due to the front facia of the handset according to a detailed analysis performed by TIPB.

UCLOccupation's vocal outcry following the canning of dozens of Facebook profile and user pages from the social website, with political motives likely involved, has prompted an official response from the site's "user operations" department.

Just over one month ago, the iPad 2 was launched in the UK and as expected, stocks were quasi nonexistent with most national retailers like the Carphone Warehouse reporting chronic shortages. Unfortunately, even five weeks after the launch of the tablet, stocks are still very low with Apple reporting up to two weeks delay in the delivery of all the 12 iPad 2 stock keeping units.

Sony apologised to million of its PlayStation online users on Sunday following a major security breach that has left the network down for more than a week. "We apologise deeply for causing great unease and trouble to our users," Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony's computer entertainment division said in a statement, as reported by The Telegraph.
