Amazon Web Services Outage Was Caused By 'Human Error'

Amazon has admitted that a two-day failure of its Web Services servers was caused by human error and has apologised and offered compensation to those affected according to thinq_

The AWS cloud went down on April 21st and stayed down for two days taking the likes of Quora, Reddit and Foursquare with it, causing untold financial damage.

The Internet book-seller said the damage happened as it tried to upgrade the capacity of its giant data centre in North Virginia and that proper procedures were not followed leading the servers to become overloaded as data was routed into the wrong storage area.

Amazon has said sorry for the downtime and the poor communication with its customers, promising a paltry ten days of free service by way of compensation.
