Video: Working Galaxy Tab 8.9 spotted in the wild

When Samsung announced the forthcoming Galaxy Tab 8.9 back in March, all the Korean company had to show of its potential iPad killer was a dead dummy.

Now video has emerged of a working model of the 8.9-inch slate device, running what appears to be a full version of Android's tablet-centric operating system.

Samsung has been working hard slimming down the Apple-aping gadget which at 8.6mm fat is a hair skinnier than the 8.8mm iPad 2 and substantially lighter at 470 grammes compared to the iPad's 601.

Samsung has also managed to cram more pixels into its 8.9-inch screen (1280x800) than Apple's 9.7-incher (1024x768).

It's all powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, has the now-required dual cameras for video chattery and trumps the iPad's limited connectivity with USB and a MicroSD card slot.

Both the 8.9-inch and a 10.1-inch variant are expected to hit the shelves in June although prices are as yet unknown.
