Details of next version of Windows Phone coming in two weeks

Seattle based operating system and software developers Microsoft is holding an event on Wednesday May 24th, which is set to cover the next version of Windows Phone.

One Mobile Ring has been invited by Microsoft to the event, where we will be covering all of the news as it happens with pictures and video too.

No details were provided as to what exactly might be covered at the ‘VIP Preview’, other than ‘we lift the curtain on the next major release of Windows Phone’.

Microsoft has recently shown aspects to the future update of Windows Phone, known as the code-name Mango, along with some of the new applications that are on the way for the mobile phone OS.

Mango is scheduled to be rolled out on Windows Phone 7 handsets later on in the year, which is said to bring with it multitasking capabilities and a hardware-accelerated mobile version of Internet Explorer 9.

There is also Twitter functionality brought into the People hub, along with better support for Office documents in SkyDrive - Microsoft’s free cloud-based storage service.

Microsoft detailed the new apps that are on the way for WP7, with the likes of Skype and Spotify where the next update is said to offer greater access to the phone’s camera and sensors, such as gyroscope for the Layer app.
