Cisco System Inc has named David Yen as the chief of the company’s server access and virtualization technology group.
David Yen, who has previously served in Sun Microsystems as an executive is considered to be a veteran in the industry.
He will be replacing Mario Mazzola, Prem Jain and Luca Cafiero, the founder of the business which eventually made the foundation of the unit. Cisco said that the trio, from now on, will play more of an advisory role.
The decision by the company to go for Mr. Yen as the new head of the server access and virtualization has come only days after its Chief Executive John Chambers revealed that the company would be soon coming up with some drastic changes in its management team in order to rectify the lapses in its decision making processes.
The server business wing of the networking juggernaut from San Jose, California had kicked off in 2008 as a part of the company’s plan to add more to the sales figures of their gears in an rapidly increasing data center market.
The unit offers its service with a wide range of technologies aimed towards assisting its customers to manage their information. The services include the likes of massively popular United Computing System, Nexus Network Switches etc.
