Supermarket giant Tesco is now selling the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as a pay as you go phone with £10 top up for £430 with free delivery, what's more you can pay with your Tesco clubcard vouchers with £5 worth £10.
The deal, which you can check here, ties you to Tesco's own Tesco Mobile network but it is nearly £100 less than the original suggested retail price, not bad for a phone that was only released three months ago and is the first device to be Playstation-certified.
The phone has the playability of a Playstation Portable according to Tesco's description and is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
It uses a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz with an ageing yet capable Adreno 205 GPU. It is flanked by 512MB RAM, a 16GB microSD card, a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera, a proper slide out physical joypad and enough battery juice for 30 hours of music playback or up to 500 minutes of talk time.
The handset comes pre loaded with Fifa 2010, The Sims 3, Crash Bandicoot, Star Battalion, Tetris and Bruce Lee Fighting so you can get gaming right out of the box.
Playstation One games that were destined for the platform however haven't sold as well though, with Destruction Derby, for example, selling only a few hundred copies.
