The Sunday Times is planning to come up with a list of most the web-savvy social media users, a new report revealed.
This new list is likely to be based on the activity of the web users on social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Foursquare.
According to the BrandRepublic, the list is not going to be a part of the News International paywall and it will “rank socially active consumers according to their activity on the four key social networks – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare.”
Sunday Times also invited its readers to register and participate in the contest, but they are reportedly going to use a complicated a algorithm developed by the VCCP team to evaluate the “social activity” of the participants, not just take a survey of user activity.
“It’s rooted in our editorial content. People are inherently competitive in this space and the content has the potential to be viral. The list matches our traditional list content but gives us the opportunity to reach new audiences,” said Jody Vogelaar, News International head of international digital marketing said in statement.
“Since launching paid content, social media hasn’t been a barrier.”
