Vodafone launches latest own branded Android phone

Mobile phone network Vodafone has unveiled the new Vodafone Smart – a budget Google OS run handset with high-end features under the Vodafone brand and for just £80.

The Vodafone 858 Smart is the latest in the range of own named mobile phones from the network, which is reportedly the Huawei U8160 rebranded under the company’s name.

The Smart is a fully functioning smart phone that builds on from the Huawei U8150 IDEOS mobile that was available in September last year, which was the very first handset to arrive back then running the newest Android OS around – in ‘Froyo’ 2.2.

Vodafone’s 858 Smart arrives with a 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen, with a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, an FM radio, WIFI and 3G access with a microSD slot that has access to 32GB cards.

The mobile is customisable both inside and out, from the home screens inside of Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 down to the 858 Smart 's ability to have a unique case designed for the phone before ordering.

The mobile phone network hinted there are more devices due of a similar nature soon; in email to One Mobile Ring it stated ‘the Vodafone Smart is the first in its category’.

Vodafone’s 858 Smart is due this summertime in stores, for a noted 90 Euros or around £80 on pay as you go price plans.
