Vodafone confirmed this morning that it has officially started to sell HTC's top of the range smartphone, the Sensation, for free for as little as £35 a month or £840 over the duration of the two year contract.
You will be able to buy the handset on 12, 18 or 24 month deals as well, although there's an upfront fee of at least £199. The £35 tariff provides you with 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB data allowance per month with Vodafone's popular passport service which provides up to 25MB worth of data in selected European countries.
The other mobile phone operators are expected to sell the smartphone from mid June onwards and the Sensation will be available SIM Free for around £500 from the usual suspects.
The Sensation builds on the HTC Desire HD; like the latter it comes with a huge 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen but with a qHD resolution and swaps the single core Qualcomm core in the HD for a newer dual core Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz.
The rest of the spec is fairly impressive as well with an eight megapixel camera with dual flash, a front facing VGA camera for video calls, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 1GB RAM, 1GB onboard storage, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, HTC's revamped Sense user interface and the video on demand service, HTC Watch.
