German enterprise software maker SAP has announced that it has certified its Rapid Deployment and BusinessObjects software to work on Amazon Web Services platform.
The company said that the move will reduce the cost of ownership and enhance the speed of deployments.
SAP said that now half of its product portfolio was certified to be used on Amazon’s cloud computing platform. The Amazon-SAP partnership was announced at the Sapphire conference in Orlando.
The move establishes AWS as a hardware layer partner for SAP products. Getting SAP certification will allow more and more developers to run SAP’s offering on Amazon’s platform, that lets users hire computing space on the cloud.
The companies said that they will include support for SAP enterprise resource planning platform on AWS in the coming few months. So, as of now, users would have to make do with Rapid Deployment and BusinessObject offerings.
Apart from certifying ERP solutions for AWS, SAP also plans to certify its database solutions such as Sybase’s ASE and IQ and HANA in-memory technology for Amazon’s platform.
Meanwhile, SAP rival Oracle had certified its software to work with AWS back in September last year, but that particular information remains absent from AWS’s website.
