Memory specialist Corsair has announced what it claims is the world's fastest production memory: an 8GB kit that runs at a whopping 2,400MHz - guaranteed.
The Corsair Dominator GTX 2x4GB DDR3 kits are guaranteed to run at 2,400MHz with latency settings of 9-11-10-30 - making it, the company claims, the fastest production-model memory in the whole wired world.
The impressive specifications are reached thanks to a four-stage component screen process, which weeds out around 95 per cent of integrated circuits to find the tiny proportion capable of hitting the high notes. These top-end components are then assembled and subjected to qualification testing on an Intel P55 motherboard.
"The purpose of these kits is to help overclockers explore the limits of memory performance," explained Corsair's Giovanni Sena at the launch. "They’re the product of careful screening, selection, and testing, and we’re eager to see what enthusiasts will do with them. As long as our customers are obsessed with making computers faster and more powerful, we’ll continue producing extraordinary memory kits to help make that happen."
Sadly, such performance comes at a serious price: the 8GB kit will set US buyers back $499, while a UK price has yet to be confirmed - but at least buyers can enjoy the benefits of Corsair's custom DHX+ heatsink design and included AirFlow 2 GTL cooling fan.
