Hewlett-Packard has made additions to its desktop-to-data-centre client virtualisation portfolio with the introduction of two new Smart Clients and one Thin Client.
The HP t5335z and t5565z Smart Clients are Zero clients that support an array of virtualisation platforms like the ones offered by Microsoft, VMware and Citrix.
The company claims that the Smart Clients can be used as clients on different platforms as well, thus bringing a much desired level of flexibility.
HP also said that although the Smart Clients were zero clients, they had been optimised for Citrix’s XenDesktop platform for adding additional features. Zero client means that the system will be platform neutral.
The new HP 6360t Mobile Thin Client on the other hand is designed for remote and mobile workers and provides additional security and productivity features.
“Only HP, the worldwide market share leader in thin clients, has the depth of expertise and global scale to meet customer requirements from the data centre to the end point in client virtualisation and cloud computing deployments," said HP director of commercial desktop and thin client marketing Jeff Groudan in a press release (opens in new tab).
“With industry-leading flexibility and performance at the lowest price points, these new offerings reinforce our leadership in this market and commitment to delivering the best possible experiences in Citrix environments,” he added.
