IBM has dished out the SmartCloud for Education cloud service for delivering software and other resources to students and researchers without deploying advance IT expertise.
The company said that the SmartCloud for Education was mix of tools and services that was capable of allowing education institutions to use real-time analytics tools to evaluate the performance of students and institution, offer additional lab resources and increase effectiveness of research.
IBM said that the platform comes with the Decision Management for Education software-as-a-service offering which provides real-time information, allowing institutions to make informed decisions using the IBM SPSS predictive analytical technology.
The platform will also offer the IBM Virtual Computing Lab Cloud Solutions for Education that will allow institutions to deploy their own in-campus private cloud computing environment or use the hybrid IBM Smart Cloud.
The SmartCloud also offers research collaboration and analytics tools that help researchers get in touch with academics performing similar research.
"Cloud computing offers educational institutions the ability to transform learning processes to be more student-centred, as well as the potential to reduce costs through shared services," said Michael King, vice president, IBM Global Education Industry.
"Our announcements today lay the groundwork for institutions, systems, and states to begin creating these integrated cloud services for their constituents." he added. More information about SmartCloud can be obtained here (opens in new tab).
