Computer maker Dell has decided to launch its highly awaited Dell Streak 10 Pro tablet device in China first, with the US launch being scheduled for some time next year.
According to CNET (opens in new tab), the company believes that the US market is immature when it comes to Android based tablet devices.
The company has slated the device to be launched in China this summer with the US launch coming next year. Tablet makers are fast realising that launching 10 inch tablet devices in a US market dominated by Apple was not a good idea.
In a blog post, Amit Midha, President-China and South Asia informed that emerging markets like China were responsible for 27 percent of the company’s revenue in the first quarter.
“We’re confident the new Streak 10 Pro will help them achieve their professional goals. In addition, we have a significant – and rapidly growing – retail presence in China, with more than 10,000 locations where customers can buy Dell products throughout the region,” Midha wrote on the blog.
Dell reckons that by the time the tablet device hits the US, there will be enough applications to draw users to the tablet.
