Facebook to launch photo sharing application

Social networking behemoth Facebook looks like it is about to launch what looks like a crowd-sourced photo sharing app for Apple's iDevices.

Mysterious iPhone screen grabs and other documentation received by TechCrunch appear to show a new stand-alone app built on top of Facebook's massive user base and the 100 billion snaps they have uploaded since the site launched.

It's not clear how Facebook, which has found itself in hot water on privacy issues on several occasions, will go about making those images publicly available, but TC say the app - which fuses elements of similar software services like Color, Instagram and Path - looks "awesome".

TechCrunch is obviously keen not to fall foul of those sticky privacy issues itself saying it will have to "rework" many of the images in question before it can post them, which is making the whole affair even more intriguing.
